Stock played on Concert: "Love, Loss & Liberation: A Musical Valentine for Lovers, Loners and Friends"

On Wednesday, February 7 at 8:00 pm, Mercyhurst voice teacher Katherine Soroka and visiting pianist Nathan Carterette bring a cornucopia of Cupid’s songs to Walker Recital Hall. Three centuries of love songs by Rossini, Mahler, Meyerbeer, Tchaikovsky, Medtner, Stock, Shatin, Gershwin, and Rodgers and Hart present the ecstasies and woes of love, with poetry ranging from Alexander Pushkin to Robert Frost.  They speak to the joy of exultant young love, balm of friendship, agony of betrayal, ache of loss, bliss of liberation from the world, peace of resolved tempest-torn love, and comfort of a lullaby.

Noted pianist Nathan Carterette will bring his keyboard pyrotechnics to both this collaboration and to a solo piano work by Nicolai Medtner.

There is free admission for this D’Angelo Faculty Artist Series concert, part of Sweet Sounds on the Hill.
